My favorite subject in high school was art and mechanical drawing. In college I took some art appreciation courses and, as I began my business career, I would occasionally attend some evening sketch classes in Philadelphia.   After moving to the Finger Lakes, my wife, Elizabeth, and I began taking some evening adult art classes at the high school. We joined the Montour Art Club and Penn Yan Art Guild and would attend some art work shops, exhibits and fence shows. Because I was busy building my business, she progressed much more rapidly and began teaching art in our home two evenings a week.   When I retired in 1982 to take care of my Christmas tree farm, I began painting, studying “how-to-books” and attending art work shops much more seriously. I enjoy solving painting problems in a variety of subjects, but seem to be drawn primarily to landscapes that include buildings. With the winter months free from the farm, I began traveling and painting, mostly in watercolor, although I still enjoy both oil and acrylic. I have painted in Australia, New Zealand, Spain, France, Turkey, Italy, Bermuda, the Caribbean as well as Florida, Arizona and Cape Cod, but my favorite place is still the Finger Lakes of New York.
